If your car insurance or vehicle’s manufacturer’s warranty comes with roadside assistance, that’s a good and useful thing! But keep in mind, you may sometimes be the passenger in a car with a friend, or rental car (coverage in taxis, limousines and other ride-sharing conveyances is excluded) that experiences a breakdown, flat tire, car lockout or road hazard. With AAA, you’re covered in any eligible vehicle, not just your own. This means that you can use your AAA Membership for roadside assistance even if you’re in someone else’s car.

Renewing AAA Membership is often more affordable than rejoining when you need service. That’s because roadside assistance that’s requested on the same calendar day you join is subject to a same-day service fee. This also applies to former members who renew beyond their grace period *renew after the membership expires.
